Harold Camping, based on a mathematical model of the Bible, predicts that the world will end on May 21, 2011. Camping, a civil engineer by profession, has studied the Bible for more than 70 years and has developed a system for interpreting the prophecies which are hidden within the version of the book that he is using. I guess ALWAYS being wrong about these dates will have been worth it once they hit it right. The comments posted to the story are predictably disturbing, e.g.:
